Endodontics

Root Canal or Endodontics pertain to the treatment of diseases or injury to the pulp – the soft tissue inside the tooth that contains blood vessels and nerves. When the pulp is diseased or injured it dies. This can happen when a tooth is cracked, there is a deep cavity or large filling or you sustain a serious injury to a tooth.

Without treatment, infection can occur and a tooth may need to be pulled. A root canal can save your tooth and your smile.

Here at Woodside Smile Dental we have an experienced dentists skilled in root canal treatment and will do everything he or she can to help you to have a positive experience.

What steps are involved in a Root Canal?

The dentist will numb the area to be treated for your comfort. The tooth’s nerve or pulp is then removed. If necessary, medicine will be placed in the area to get rid of any bacteria. A temporary filling will be placed in the opening of the tooth. After a period of healing, the temporary fillings are replaced with rubber-like material for sealing. The last step will require a crown or a filling – this will be performed by one of our general dentists.
